RSD Black Friday 2026: The Highlights and The Hype

The 2026 Black Friday Record Store Day list features roughly 185 limited-edition releases, but critics note that while there are interesting finds like archival live recordings from Prince and Bruce Springsteen, the excitement has waned as some enthusiasts feel the event has become over-commercialized.

The top 3

  1. Top Artist Exclusives in 2026: Notable 2026 releases include Prince's '3121 Las Vegas Live' (3xLP), Billy Joel's 'Billy Joel Tonight' (2xLP), and new vinyl debuts from Noah Kahan and Florence + The Machine.
  2. The 'Small but Scrappy' Format: Unlike the massive April event, the Black Friday edition focuses on roughly 185 releases, often used by labels to kickstart holiday shopping without the full scale of the spring event.
  3. Consumer Sentiment Shifts: While some collectors still hunt for gems, many long-time vinyl fans are increasingly skeptical, noting that many titles can be purchased at discounts shortly after the event.
