The top 3

  1. Key Pillars of MiCA Regulation: MiCA establishes clear standards for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), covers the issuance of crypto-assets, and defines rules for stablecoins (Asset-Referenced Tokens and E-Money Tokens), alongside market abuse measures.
  2. EU Countries Leading MiCA Implementation: MiCA's full framework for CASPs took effect on December 30, 2024, with a transitional period expiring by July 1, 2026, across the EU; countries like France, Malta, Luxembourg, and Estonia adopted the full 18-month grandfathering period, while Austria, Germany, and Ireland opted for 12-month periods.
  3. MiCA vs. Global Crypto Regulatory Frameworks: MiCA provides a unified EU-wide regulatory regime, contrasting with the UK's more flexible, principles-based approach and the US's fragmented regulatory landscape involving multiple agencies like the SEC and CFTC.
