Controversial Bitcoin fork BIP-110 mines two blocks, then stops

The breakaway chain inherited bitcoin’s mining difficulty with only a tiny share of hashpower, leaving blocks hours apart while both chains still accept the same transactions.

The top 3

  1. Bitcoin Cash (BCH): Scaling via Larger Blocks: Launched in August 2017, Bitcoin Cash emerged from a hard fork to address Bitcoin's scalability limitations by increasing the block size limit from 1MB to 8MB, and later to 32MB, aiming for faster and cheaper transactions.
  2. Bitcoin SV (BSV): 'Satoshi's Vision' and Hash Wars: Bitcoin SV, forked from Bitcoin Cash in November 2018, aimed to restore what its proponents, led by Craig Wright and Calvin Ayre, claimed was Satoshi Nakamoto's original vision, advocating for massive block size increases (up to 2GB) and engaging in a contentious 'hash war'.
  3. Bitcoin Gold (BTG): Democratizing Mining with GPUs: Bitcoin Gold, a hard fork in October 2017, aimed to decentralize Bitcoin mining by changing its Proof-of-Work algorithm to Equihash, making it resistant to specialized ASIC miners and enabling mining with more commonly available GPUs.
