The top 3

  1. Shift toward acoustic simplicity and the MOTH Club residency: Following a 24-year hiatus, the duo's 2025 residency at London's 300-capacity MOTH Club reconnected them with the 'intensity and simplicity' of their early musical roots. This experience prioritized a direct, guitar-and-voice approach, which directly informed the composition and recording process of the 10-track album set for release on February 19, 2027.
  2. Role of the Spanish nylon-string guitar as an emotional catalyst: Ben Watt purchased a Spanish nylon-string guitar at the beginning of 2026, which became the primary writing instrument for nine of the album's 10 songs. Watt described this instrument as an 'emotional springboard' that helped him rediscover a musical voice he previously believed was lost.
