Pioneers of Fluorescence Microscopy

Fredrick W. Herschel first observed fluorescence in 1845, with Sir George G. Stokes further studying the phenomenon; Carl Zeiss and Carl Reichert later developed these observations into fluorescence microscopy in the early 1900s, and Oskar Heimstaedt created the first working fluorescent microscope in 1911.
