Vanished Without a Trace

Three disappearances no search has ever solved: a ghost ship, a lost colony, and a lost aviator.

The top 3

  1. The Mary Celeste: Found adrift near the Azores in 1872, seaworthy with cargo and months of food intact, all 10 aboard gone forever.
  2. Roanoke's Lost Colony: In 1590 John White returned to find all ~115 settlers gone, the only clue a single word carved on a post: CROATOAN.
  3. Amelia Earhart: Vanished over the Pacific on July 2, 1937 near Howland Island; nearly 90 years of searches, still no confirmed wreck.
