SpaceX Starship: The First Orbital Mission

SpaceX is attempting the first orbital flight of its 124-meter-tall Starship-Super Heavy rocket (Flight 14), carrying 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites into low Earth orbit from Starbase, Texas.

The top 3

  1. Orbital Insertion Plan: The mission targets a 275 km orbital altitude, requiring a complex Raptor engine reignition 25 minutes post-liftoff to circularize the trajectory.
  2. Starlink V3 Debut: This flight marks the first operational deployment of Starlink V3, which features a massive 10x increase in downlink capacity (1 Tbps) compared to V2.
  3. Operational Constraints: The FAA-cleared window lasts 75 minutes, with SpaceX choosing not to recover either the Super Heavy booster (B21) or the Starship upper stage (S41) for this flight.
