Germany's ETC Group Physical Bitcoin was among the earliest spot Bitcoin ETF products to trade in June 2020, while Canada approved the world's first spot Bitcoin ETF, Purpose Bitcoin ETF, in February 2021. The US approved its first spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024.
