NASA Highlights Next-Gen Cargo Landers Paving the Way for a Moon Base

NASA and its commercial partners are making progress on their way to a permanent human presence on the Moon. As part of that, a recent press release and accompanying YouTube video hints they may be looking to provide regular updates to the progress of those efforts - and, at least for this first one, that progress looks pretty good.

  2. Lander Cargo Capacities Compared: SpaceX's Starship HLS is designed to carry up to 100,000 kg (100 metric tons) of cargo, significantly more than Blue Origin's Blue Moon Mark 2 (20,000-30,000 kg), Astrobotic's Griffin (~500 kg), or Intuitive Machines' Nova-C (100 kg).
  3. Most NASA CLPS Contracts Awarded: Intuitive Machines has received the most NASA CLPS contracts with four awards, followed by Astrobotic with three Peregrine-class mission contracts and Firefly Aerospace with two.
