Radiation environment differences: Lunar space vs. Earth orbit

The Artemis I mission demonstrated that radiation near the Moon is more uniform than in Earth orbit. Unlike in low Earth orbit, where low-energy protons trapped in the Van Allen belts cause uneven radiation doses, the lunar environment is dominated by high-energy galactic particles that pass through the human body with more consistent energy deposition.
