Phoenix Species Project Announces Funds for Imperiled Wildlife

A new fund called the Phoenix Species Project will provide $200 million to help pull imperiled species back from the brink of extinction.

The addax, an antelope from the Sahara, has only 30-90 individuals left due to hunting and habitat destruction. The North Atlantic Right Whale population is critically endangered with approximately 350 individuals, primarily threatened by vessel strikes and fishing gear. Hawksbill Sea Turtles are critically endangered due to poaching, plastic pollution, bycatch, and habitat loss.
