The top 3

  1. Amazon Rainforest's Deforestation Record: The Brazilian Amazon accounts for the largest absolute loss of primary forest area over the last two decades due to agricultural expansion and logging.
  2. The Congo Basin Forest Loss: The Congo Basin represents the second-largest area of tropical forest loss, driven significantly by small-scale shifting agriculture and charcoal production.
  3. Indonesia's Peatland Degradation: Indonesia has consistently ranked among the top three countries for primary forest loss, frequently linked to oil palm plantation expansion and peatland fires.
